Our Mama

Mom of 6 kids, grandma of 4, a friend to many. We’ll see you in the great beyond! January 1941 to February 2024. XOXO

You’re our mama, our beautiful mama.

You’ve made us happy throughout our lives.

With gentle words and loving hands,

You’ve helped us shape our paths.

From growing pains, and life’s heartaches,

You were beside us all the way.

We turned to you when darkness swept in,

and you always held us close.

Your smile was infectious,

Your laugh was a delight.

When music played, no matter the tune,

You would dance until we did too.

Card nights and family gatherings,

these things we did in spades.

You made such times more special,

each one a wonderful memory.

No words of judgment, scoff, or scorn,

ever passed your lips.

You were our rock, our safe place,

the calmness in the storm.

No matter how far life took us,

we never felt alone.

You were only a phone call away,

that assurance kept us strong.

When age crept in and slowed you down,

your smile never changed.

Still, you laughed with us, you sang,

your brightness never dimmed.

And when the time came to say goodbye,

we all gathered near.

Daughters, sons and grandkids,

we filled your room with love.

You gave us kisses; you hugged us close,

your smile barely faltered.

Once more we spoke, we sang, we laughed,

… we cried.

Now, we continue to each walk our paths,

the ones you set us on.

You may be gone, but you’re still near,

a comfort to us still.

We’ll laugh, we’ll sing,

we’ll dance while we can.

And never will we forget,

our mama, our sweet friend, the best in each of us.

Dear Heather ~ I'm so glad that I've just discovered your gorgeous presentations after your kind comment re; "Marital~Bliss" *As I scroll through them I've subscribed with pleasure. I'm not a writer, just a retired legal professional; a simple storyteller to archive 'For the kids Someday.' This one, as with most of us, hit close to home; I so feel your loss. I've written a tribute to mine as well "Dear Mom"...'Hugs' were what we all had in common. - With my Respect - j.in.l.a.
