Our Last Goodbye

The night is restless and cold

My hand reaches out for yours to hold.

Sleep seems so inevitable

Yet, as I close my eyes I see you smile.

My heart skips a beat

As a tear begins to fall down my cheek.

I hear a whisper,

You whisper my name, so soft and gentle.

I try to call out, but I have no sound.

Although, my heart is beating faster, it cries out for you

I cannot move, only my eyes.

The clouds form,

It is time for goodbye.

I can finally talk

But all I can say is

I love you...

It feels like such a short time

And as I open my eyes,

My cheeks are dripping with tears.

My heart aches for your embrace,

I try to reply our memories,

But all I can think of

Is our last goodbye.
