The Forest - La Forêt

A castle in the sky held a ceremony for a child found on the forest’s floor.

Mother cradled the child in her arms swaying back and forth, as the christening gown danced to and fro. And sugar plums twirled above.

“Wake up, ma petite.”

“Today is the day, naming a child, our child, Fleur.”

Father walked in. Naming a child, our child, Forêt.

“We differ,” both parents announced.

Grandmama cried, “Mathilde, in honour of my mama.”

The priest made the sign of the holy cross, blessed the child with a taste of holy water.

“Naming a child, this child, Fleur Forêt Mathilde.”

All cheered.
