Our Blue and Green

Fragments from Oxford

Caspar David Friedrich - Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer (1818)

(Late Summer in the Meadows)

Once again I'm feeling blue

and not so true about myself

a little lost and somewhat cold

like flies of May when they get old,

like something used, like something worn

by thoughts so big that they have torn

apart my fairy tale of youth,

to open eyes for my blue truth.

(Early Spring at Sunrise)

Today I'm feeling evergreen

the storm has passed and I am keen

on music, dance and smiling friends,

on wondrous walks which know no ends.

So let us eat and drink and laugh

for time we share on winding paths

is time held dear by you and me,

green with wonders yet to see.
