I’m forgetting what your hugs feel like
But that doesn’t make me crave them any less
I’ll be celebrating my birthday tonight
And you’ll blow your candles out at 12
We were supposed to do this together
Now I just wish you well
Why couldn’t your well be with me
I guess time will tell
Time will kill
I wanted to murder it with you
Now I have no idea what to do
30, never again flirty, thriving in doom
I wonder if you too, have the birthday blues
Do you care at all?
Would it even be better to know?
Do you think of us when the distractions are slow?
Do you reminisce on our love?
Did you ever truly have it?
I hate to ask that
But my minds answers deem me pathetic
Learning from my yearning
But nothing useful
Just that I miss you more than I used to
I have instances of relief
When I forget everything
I don’t want to forget everything
But that’s what will heal me
It’ll never happen
I’m stuck in your heart
And even if you gave me the key
I’d just re-lock the lock
I’m waiting for your name to pop up on my phone
Even though it won’t
“Happy birthday!” It’d say
and I’d send the same tomorrow
If you don’t, I won’t
And that’s how I’ll know we’re done
I’ll let the candles on my own cake burn until the wax hits the icing
Because if I were to make the wish
It wouldn’t come true despite me needing it to
Anywho,
Happy broken birthday to us two.
