ostracism

say it again

they consumed her completely

from head to toe, and from all angles

they had so much; they knew far too much

they gave themselves this small opening

ostracism is her middle name

everyone who has much will receive more

they will execute on-the-spot everyone who has nothing

no matter how hard you try

you’ll never get away from this, so relax

ostracism is her middle name

they are wrong, not you

they think they're doing good, but it's not true

the other side is reversed, full of smooth

sweet icing covering the cake

ostracism is her middle name

not much credit as they cut all the strings

they think they’re pulling them, but not quite

they don’t know; they want control

their role is not that of kings, but of scullery maids

a skein of seaweed trapped in a weir

ostracism is her middle name

sailors at sea would find this quite displeasing

scrubbing every dock clean

to let it all go

on a journey toward higher peaks

from which a swift descent awaits

more agonising than she could ever manage

cataloguing every detail with precise, captivating hooks

chillingly visceral

a profusion of these monstrous entities
