I folded my plans

into paper cranes

they can't fly

but they might... someday.

You laugh at me like I'm insane,

crumpled dreams going to waste,

but the creases are the sharp edges

of my boundaries,

so you can't touch me

with all of your pain.

Just because I learned to fold

doesn't mean I began to cave,

or that I ever forgave

all the missteps, mischances, and mistakes.

I didn't cut

until you made me break

cause all of your love letters

were fake.
