a match unprepared needs struck for igniting

i see flames in the air, but still can't smell the sulfur

the devil and the details are forever fighting

over choices and souls that are no longer yours

she burned the biscuits and threw out the gravy

tones become viscous in the attempt to save me

no rest for the wicked or do they mean weary

i tend to forget when my vision's impaired

you fill up my mind with the best of intentions

then cover my head, suffocating my thoughts

you love to hate me, guess you forgot to mention

i'm a rock that won't move, completely covered in moss

determined to be stubborn or willing to hold out

i guess that depends on how you carry your cross

second guessing only succeeds in creating more doubt

you paid the toll, without ever asking the cost

time's worth more than money, yet there's no way to save it

money is worthless when it's in the wrong hands

if given the chance would you stay for the conflict

or give it away and demolish the plans
