Orbs in a Haunted Church
Harmless and happy to be seen

Orbs in a Haunted Church
The church stood quiet on the hill,
Doors open wide without a sound,
I stepped inside one quiet day,
Just to see what I might feel.
Light came through the coloured glass,
Soft patterns resting on the floor,
Dust moved slow within the air,
As if it had all day to drift.
They say there are orbs in here,
Small lights that come and softly go,
I did not think I would see one,
Until something caught my eye.
Near the end of an old wooden pew,
A small glow hovered, still and calm,
Not bright, not sharp, just gently there,
As if it knew I would not mind.
I did not feel afraid at all,
No sudden chill, no sense of wrong,
Just a quiet settling feeling,
Like being seen in a kind way.
Another moved along the aisle,
Then faded like it changed its mind,
Not there to prove or frighten me,
Just passing through as things can do.
I sat a while, longer than planned,
Hands resting on the worn smooth wood,
Thinking of all who came before,
And the lives that filled this place.
When I left, the door closed soft,
The light remained behind in calm,
And I carried something with me,
A gentle peace I did not expect.
