The Art of Potential

I've always loved you

With four words you fold me

Origami-style creases lining my heart

It was laughably inevitable

Dotted lines marked out a roadmap

A transaction between the second and third dimension

It was your hands

The way they guided the paper

Taught it how to make itself anew

And your stunning smile

Quirked up at the corners as you worked

Bringing life back to a forest long silenced

Those eyes made promises

To show my skin the same kindness

As you remind me to find new potential

I've always loved you

When you were paper-thin

And when you forgot what that was like
