open

sesame

By Ida SonPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

if hallways were to elongate

from where i wake and find myself

standing

amnesia inflicted

anxious and ready

how long might i wait

arrested

-

as the walls and doors of possibility

expand like the universe itself

i am poised inhibition and looming inaction

i am dampened air and cooling skin

draped heavy over head

squeezing horrified into unknown expansion

-

unlikely but

perhaps i will cast my veil away

long enough to stride

stiff chinned and upper lipped

wearing no ambiguity into the infinite

a specimen of action

finally

-

predictably lost

will i keel over a forgotten failed hero

to no one but the half of me

more terrified of scrutiny

valuing above life and death itself

to reinforce enigma

to crumble alone

to never seek to solve

-

and awake reverted

a creep with an erection

and stare about

lizardly

surreal poetry
