Wings fluttered
Through open window,
A sensation filling veins
As sun sparkled dust
Danced on sill-
Daydreams scampered
Through open space,
Across field
Tripping over freedom
As voices echoed
In grow-less cell-
Directing ambitions
To goal-less fruition
The rules set forth
By beings on pedestal
With pristine hands
And polished shoes,
Who never saw a tree
Or the flight of butterfly,
Who never questioned
The growth of a weed
In the cracks of cement,
Who never stepped forth
With solution and idea,
To bring together
A colony of lost souls-
Who never ached
And yearned
For a freedom just out of reach,
Or below the earth.
To fly through window
On wings of butterfly
What a vision,
A dream above
To escape the monotony
Of our tortured days
Within walls too small,
As we continue to uphold
The creators of a lost generation.
