Only in the Dark

The notion that we are always strong is a myth

yes we hold true most of the time

but trouble toils our minds

yet we stand strong not for ourselves but for those in pain

Just understand we cry in the dark

letting pain ebb from our spirit

that when we wake up

we can be strong again

Men before us have made us this way

almost a tradition in sense we become numb

because at the end of the road we determine where to find the light

so we give our last breath to help keep darkness at bay

But please understand we cry in the dark

letting the pain bleed from our soul

so that when we wake again

we get up and stand strong once more

This task is not easy and some may break from the pressure

Generational love can offset the strong

leaving an emotional longing that destroys most men

But there are still those raised knowing what that love looks like

So I say this to those men who don't understand

Its ok to cry in that dark room

Let it run from depths of your soul

So that when you wake to meet the sun you can be strong again

My advice is to keep the status quo even in darkest times

clear your mind and keep the focus

and when it seems like you have nothing left to shield

Remember you will always rise in the light to face the darkness
