I'd trade many of my tomorrow's,
For one yesterday with you.
I'd give my freedom and be a slave
If I knew the offer were true.
We can't get that time back,
and we've got to own it.
So while you busy making a life,
Be sure to live in the moment.
Make plans with your mother,
Take your dad out to dinner.
When your little cousin hits the game ball,
Tell him he's the best winner.
When your niece learns to talk,
Just listen to her chatter,
Because it's all the simple things in life,
That really even matter;
And when Grandma's sick with cancer,
the whole family blends together,
Because that's the only answer,
and family is forever.
They would trade many of their yesterday's,
For one tomorrow with you.
They hear us say, "I wish you were here."
And they answer, "If you only knew."
