One Work: The Sun

For Raymond G. Taylor’s One Work Challenge

“The Sun” by Edvard Munch

Radiant diamond

Splitting light across the land

Maybe there is hope

Author’s Note: This haiku is for Raymond G. Taylor’s One Work Challenge, found below. I chose Edvard Munch’s “The Sun” because, while it is by the same artist as “The Scream”, it evokes in me the exact opposite feelings as “The Scream”. It gives me hope for another day, and I thought that it was worth showing that the same artist could create such drastically different feelings in separate pieces.
