One Silly Thought

How a single whisper of doubt can drown a heart full of certainty.

By Samara Pollyana Published 2 months ago 1 min read
My heavy mind

Thoughts, thoughts, thoughts
Feeding on me from within,
An endless echo
I cannot seem to silence.

Will they ever stop?
Or will I keep
Handing them the keys
To every room inside my mind?

They devour my peace,
Convince me to question
My own ability,
My freedom to simply be.

They unravel my confidence,
Steal the love I hold for myself,
Turn my worth into a question,
And my hope into hesitation.

All because of one
Small, careless thought.

How strange…
That something so weightless
Can carry the power
To bend an entire day,
To darken a sky
That moments before was blue.

But perhaps
A thought is only a visitor,
Not a judge,
Not a prophecy,
Not the truth.

So I'll let it knock,
But I won't invite it to stay.
I'll watch it pass
Like a cloud that cannot keep the sun forever.

Because I am more
Than the thoughts that haunt me.
More than the fear they whisper.
More than the doubt they plant.

And one gentle thought,
Chosen instead of feared,
Can begin to rebuild
Everything one silly thought tried to destroy.
