One Night Only

Anyone want a date.

One night only.

No promise given.

No promise kept.

The glass half filled.

The drink runs sour.

The chair pulled back.

The eyes look on.

The music falters.

The shadows move.

The floor remembers.

The weight of steps.

The hand is borrowed.

The lips are cold.

The bed is waiting.

The night is short.

One night only.

The flame is gone.

One night only.

The name erased
