One More Night

A poem

It’s been a long day

and nothing has changed again.

-

Time passed,

feelings stayed silent,

crushed by disappointment,

clinging onto nothing.

-

Close the blinds

and wall yourself away

(or stagger through streets

and fear for your life.)

-

Ingest the pills,

which do nothing,

and struggle to breathe,

alone again.

-

The grease on your sheets

sticks to your skin.

-

The drains outside gurgle.

-

And there’s

the smell of nearby

burning bins.

-

It was you who signed this contract.

It is you who stays here now,

in the land where time passes

but there are no changes.
