ONE DAY THEY WILL UNDERSTAND
Not sure exactly when that will be but I live in hope

ONE DAY THEY WILL UNDERSTAND
One day they will understand,
Why I became so still,
Why I stopped explaining things,
When talking had no will.
I gave them all my kindness,
I gave them all my trust,
I stayed when I was hurting,
Because leaving felt unjust.
I thought that if I loved them,
They would love me the same,
But sometimes people hurt you,
And never feel the blame.
I cried about the things they did,
When no one knew my pain,
I asked myself what I had done,
Again and yet again.
I waited for their sorry,
I waited for the truth,
But some people never see the hurt,
They caused you in your youth.
I learned to close the door then,
Without another word,
I stopped explaining feelings,
To those who never heard.
I found the strength inside me,
I never knew was there,
And slowly I stopped wishing,
That they would even care.
Now I don’t need their answers,
Or wonder what went wrong,
I know that I survived it all,
And somehow still stayed strong
