Once upon a time,

Before there ever was a once upon a time,

‘Fore the skies were filled with dragons

And their riders flashing lightning;

‘Fore the shadows underneath them

Haunted oft’ by spirits lurking;

‘Fore the Earth was ruled by creatures

Dark and light, and sorcerers casting;

‘Fore the rouge and knight and wanderer

Fell beneath enchantments lasting;

‘Fore the ancient kings and princes

Rescued damsels, treasures seeking

Prizes, trophies, statues golden,

Elf and dwarven plunder taking;

‘Fore the full moon aroused howls

And prophets portents bringing;

Spells they chanted, visions seen

And prophecies deciphering;

‘Fore the ancient Legends sages telling

To souls brought tears and laughter;

All yet naught of the Eye they told,

‘Fore they ever lived happily after…
