On Top of the Hill
Homecoming - Freestyle Poem
On top of the hill a snow-covered house, with beacons of light reaching on out.
A wreath covered door inviting you in, a popcorn strung tree with presents around.
Hearing your name, welcoming you home, with hugs and kisses and smiles abound.
The halls echoing with laughter and screams, playing all day and into the night. The wonderful soundtrack of a house full of life.
The smells from the kitchen, feeding your soul, mother keeps chasing you out of her way.
Laying down a feast on the dining room maple, you finally made it off of the children’s table.
Nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, all telling stories of the year just past.
Grandma surveying all she has built, a family so strong it can weather a storm, filling your heart and keeping you warm.
