On The Run

Say It Plainly

Pursued by a dream,

pursuing dreams.

Ignored by others,

ignoring others.

What you give,

is what you receive.

Experience I'd proudly put on my CV:

“Twenty years of parental bullying.”

Then accused of running away when I couldn't eat at home.

It was a joke.

It still is, happening every single day,

with no one admitting

any fault.

Far beyond the North Sea,

crime still holds sway.

Two women reign

in this doomed kingdom.

While the prime male has vanished

wiped out by disease.

He's better off gone

where his body can't reveal

who's who,

or who’s a serf.

Daily cleaning and cooking,

catering to his ego’s demands,

as he systematically demolishes

the very home he had constructed.

What a waste!

This place is an improvement.

Still, the harsh world intrudes

uncomfortably near.

A crude spectacle,

ignorance steeped in shame.
