On the Porch of the Future

A poem

There isn't a shred of cosiness here

Every trigger and past grievance

Sparks fierce arguments from dawn till dusk

No one heeds the other’s feelings

Vulgar language reigns in this house

Sour looks and curses rule the day

Anyone who dissents gets crushed

“We want no one who stands out”

Superfluous words, clichés, phrases

It’s no joke, though that’s exactly how it looks

The worst actors on a ruined stage of nonsense

Everyone has a grand time until the day ends

Only to forget it all at sunrise

Will we ever hear enough words

That build our days

Instead of ruining them?
