On the edge of September

When the moon rises full

Shadows playfully cross over

As the leaves start to fall

Like a door falling opened

And revealing a key

Imagination unbroken

To new worlds emerging

Where the light bends and contorts

Creating unusual shapes

The rareness of October

Gladly take center stage

It’s like stepping into a dream

A crisp turning of a page

Change drifting freely between

The subtle lines on a face

The scent of ember and ash

Bleed into dark, dampened earth

Welcoming what’s coming to pass

A witness to seasonal birth

It’s a rite of passage

A passage through time

Curiosity takes advantage

In leaving the past behind

Where death is dappled in beauty

A technicolored slumber

On this magical journey

And spectacular spell we fall under
