From the neurons’ misfire I
lived many lives,
now on my ninth
with my final chance in
seeking final facets of living.
Delicately constructing, sifting,
trying now and again and later —
crawling along until I can stand.
Inquisitive, quizzical — all of it.
But I was given chance after chance
and I will take this ninth life with gratitude.
