The clock ticks for everyone.

As sad as it is to say

I’m not the man I once was yesterday

That ship has long sailed

Into forevermore

Where there exists no sun.

Who am I to be, I ask:

I who once thought all men were free

At last, unfortunately

These times, they hold no answer—

There’s no yearning further—

I’ve grown older, but never wiser

The clock ticks fast

As I weight each passing hand

The sun is setting;

I know what cometh, and yet I’m afraid

So very afraid.
