OLD SALT

And Old Glory

_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_

I went to visit Dad today.

He never said a word.

The pounding of my breaking heart

Was the only sound I heard.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Does he hear me when I tell him

That I miss him oh! so much?

Every day’s a silent torment

Without my father’s touch.

_+_+_+_+_+_

I miss the way he used to smile

At the silly things I’d say.

I’m here now with my memories

Ever since he went away.

_+_+_+_+_+_

So, yes, here I am at Dad’s place

Tl tell him I still care –

And standing near his Marker,

Old Glory’s waving there.
