Okay With Not Being Okay

Every day wearing a false smile

Okay With Not Being Okay

There are days the smile sits slightly wrong,

Like it borrowed strength it cannot prolong,

Words come easy, light and bright,

Yet something fades beneath the light.

You say you’re fine, and let it pass,

Like rain sliding off quiet glass,

No need for questions, none asked twice,

A practiced calm, a careful disguise.

Inside, the weight shifts, soft but real,

A truth you never quite reveal,

Not from weakness, nor from fear,

Just knowing who might not hear.

There is courage in the quiet strain,

In carrying more than you explain,

In walking through a crowded place,

While holding storms behind your face.

It is alright to pause the act,

To sit with what is simply fact,

That not all wounds are seen or known,

And some are better gently shown.

Let someone in, just once, just slow,

A single truth is enough to show,

That strength is not the walls you raise,

But choosing trust in fragile days.

You are allowed your shifting skies,

The hidden tears, the silent cries,

And still be whole, and still be strong,

Even when the feeling lasts too long.
