Oh Shit!

PTSD

By Chez DPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

OH SHIT! that scared me!

Don’t sneak up on me,

don’t bring up that memory,

if you expect me to sanely

LI IIIIIIIIII VE…….!

A shot gun blast

a scary past…

Murder, rape, and beatings,

leave uncontrolled feelings

God bless the soldier

who carries on his shoulder:

scars of freedom

next to his gun.

Please include all the rest

who wear similar vests

of fear, of trauma and unrest.

All of them do their very best…

With what’s left behind

in shadowy minds

that take over

and bend sometimes.

Let all of us blessed

Understand this mess

of broken minds;

the wounded kind.

That we should ease their startle

without pills in a bottle

but with our grace

walk their pace.

Each person’s path

each person’s laugh

comes and goes

hold them close.

OH SHIT! that scared me!

Don’t sneak up on me

don’t bring up that memory

if you expect me to sanely

LI IIIIIIIIII VE…….

They might not sleep

Their memories creep

inside their head

all night in bed.

You might see shifty eyes,

it’s only nerves disguised.

Tremoring hands

Throughout the land

Pointlessly shake.

Some drink to numb

their restless thumbs.

Afraid to take

Help from any friend,

strangers and A-men’s.

Tomorrow just brings

more of today’s things.

If you care, don’t judge

be sure not to smudge

less your gown is white

and you’ve shared this fight.

Only strong still walk

and so rarely talk

about dreadful fears

that bring them to tears.

Remember to be nice

Before you speak, think twice.

Be happy it’s not you

left lonely in their shoes.
