October challenge: Prompt - Write a poem that makes October feel like a place you can enter.
Imagine October isn't a month. It's somewhere you can go.
What does it look like when you get there? Maybe the streets are covered in wet leaves and porch lights glow before dinner. Maybe there's a bonfire somewhere in the distance, a house you shouldn't knock on, or a path through the woods that wasn't there in September. Your October might be cozy, eerie, nostalgic, lonely, strange, or something else entirely.
Write a poem that turns October into a place and invites the reader inside. Give it weather. Give it sounds. Give it somewhere to wander. Then see where October takes you.

October was his name
We stopped by the same
Who could blame
us for being curious
Afterall, he is delirious
His house was easy to spot
October was written on the pot
outside the front door slot
A tiny little kettle made of metal
that sounded like a boiling teakettle
The sign in the yard said October
with ghosts, goblins on a strober
well technically a strobe light
such fun, it was a pure delight
We knew we could get this right
When the teakettle sounded
we heard come in, we were surrounded
by some others who were grounded
They were not supposed to be here
but I couldn't stand even one tear
As we went into October slowly
it soon became noisy, and foley
Such scary noise, holey moley
Then sitting on a chair
it was October right there
He or she was all settled in
and talked of taking a spin
around the place with us
and some said yes, and I said no
Not interested to spin so no go
I waited in the living room
where there was plenty of gloom
and then I could feel the doom
it may not have been good
to be there in this hood
But then here they all come
happy, and talking with some
treats, and smiles, no one was glum
October is a very good place to visit
when you get the chance to sit
do visit October it doesn't last
long, but it can be a blast!
