Oh Little Beilig

From The Songman's Artair

Ma and Da always beware...

Now have ye heard of Oh Little Beilig,

The wee girl of Brachenbrok Moor.

In the day she is nowhere in sight,

But frolic she does so in the night.

Whisper her name I dare you in vain,

But if whispered true she will come for you.

Creep and crawl she does through the reeds,

A suckling babe she does love to eat.

Ma and da always beware,

For Oh Little Beilig will always be near.

In the rain, she will stand,

Face pale and covered by hand.

Whisper to you, she will through the storm,

And come for you when you are warm.

Drown she did before the dawn,

Lost and forgotten she was in the storm.

Oh Little Beilig comes, she will see you soon.

Oh little Beilig,

What a fright.

To know her now,

Tis better you now sleep by candlelight.
