It starts so small you almost miss it,

a comment said then brushed aside,

a look exchanged across a desk,

a name spoken just a little wrong.

Soon it builds into a pattern,

a quiet system everyone knows,

who to trust and who to doubt,

who is talked about the most.

They dress it up as harmless talk,

just passing time, just having a laugh,

but every word leaves something behind,

a mark that does not fade so fast.

I tried to keep myself outside it,

to work, to leave, to stay unseen,

but silence makes you part of it,

and distance does not keep you clean.

There is a weight in rooms like that,

a tension you cannot ignore,

where kindness feels like weakness,

and truth is something people dodge.

You watch it wear people down,

confidence chipped away in pieces,

until they question who they are,

based on whispers not their own.

One day I felt it settle in,

that quiet dread before the start,

and knew no job was worth this cost,

no wage could balance what it takes.

So I chose the door without a scene,

no speech, no drawn out goodbye,

just walked away from all that noise,

and left them in their endless cycle.

Let them circle, let them talk,

let them build their fragile throne,

I would rather stand alone in truth,

than sit in lies that are not mine.

Because peace is louder than their voices,

and self respect does not need to shout,

I quit that place without regret,

I quit that shit, and I got out.
