I read an article about the insanity of the Salem trials of witches and the fears of the townspeople with no proof but the word of a child or at the suggestion that something felt off or why were people getting sick. I realized the same ignorance of then still exists today, even with all the education available-we still hear ghosts and evil is afoot but now they are not witches but a new brand of those we find unacceptable and they are the reason for all the ills of America today.

A gun fired accidently in 1651

homicide by misadventure

whispered into malice inspired by

an accusation of bewitchment of a rifle

in 1654 against..

Lydia gilbert of Windsor..whispered crimes..

pay the price,

indicted, tried, and found guilty

WOMEN were witches!

she was hung in Hartford..say it three times backwards

backwards whirling like a dervish in the fevered minds

of blasts of ignorance

not knowing..

what causes an illness!!!

Well.....

obviously....

WITCHcraft...

and always women..whisper it..

the weak, the marginalized.

a man here and there

but always an associate of a woman

confessions to dancing with the devil in flames of delight

lovingly forced by whips & tortures..

who wouldn't..

who could stand it?

Salem's trials were primed

by specters unseen?

proof of witchcraft it is..

and just a willing tongue susurrating

sibilantly in open ears...

"I have the strangest fear.."

metamorphosis

it has grown,..aged

no more witches

just a wagging tongue

web powered

truth devoured

talking about a basement full of kids

in a pizzeria...

a satanic panic..

started long ago..

Torseker's children with a fingertip point to an invisible mark

Connecticut's unexplainable illnesses explained

as proof of witch's malice

Salem and specters evident in suggestion

Now hypnotic interviews and leading questions

spellbind the crowds..

the new children eager to please

speak into life the..

horrors parents and fools expected to find..

the witches are gone now

but their malevolence lives on..

the same biases, bigotries and heresies hold...

witches became lesbians and queers

transgenders and fears..

immigrants, diseased and evil in their intent

on persecuting innocent children that get in their way, if..

if only they had not come..

there would be no children in pizzarias to sell..

no children for the supposed ungodly to groom

no children harmed and killed by..

those not from here..

and those not like us..

FEAR..it blinds and none can hear over the screams.

Peace..someday, I hope.
