So who gets to decide
what's a weed and
what's not
weeds are viewed as vermin
flowers are viewed as decoration
weeds grow everywhere
and anywhere
in a real time
game of survival
flowers can too but
most don't want
to work that hard
they want
potting soil
scheduled watering
monitoring
pruning
fertilizing
insect control
admiring
✨
meanwhile...
✨
the weeds are over there like
the third monkey
on Noah's ramp
hot or cold
flood or drought
growing
adapting
thriving
enduring
learning your mower
blade height
so they can pop out flowers
a half inch lower
little yard ninjas
decorating my yard
voluntarily
never asking for anything
pollen for the taking
when I see a weed
I can identify
being
enduring
adapting
not a fancy flower
with fancy anything
no demands
no requests
simple
a survivor.
