Amazing how
a tree rooted in the ground,
tentacled deep into soil––
can be excused for
yielding
to the strength of the storm.
Yet a person,
a human being,
feet barely above the dirt––
should feel burdened
to withstand
all the winds that life can bring,
and remain resilient to
the coming tempest.
