o Zombi

fair and foul uncreature notbreathing

in the blankspace

the hoodoo man dug you up

into the realm of notliving and notdying

where you wander

arms outstretched

aimless servant to his aims

o Zombi

though you feast on the supple gray matter

and though you peer through empty cavities

the pallor of your skin is the key to translucense

and translucence to the untruth of truth

o Zombi

the ministers of your resurrected flesh

rest upon laurels in that towering cathedral

looking out upon the once-was mill town

steel soot staining its marble palaces

o Zombi

you were gifted life-death by The Professor

under whose tutelage your recreated mind

abandoned a humanity so clearly such a lie

and became an instrument of laureate text

and so now you do not live

and so now you do not die
