Ode to the Sponge

The great mighty sponge

You come from under the sea

If not for you where would we be

You sit alone

On a sink that looks like chrome

While you don’t get to travel with us like our phone

Without you in our home, dirt would be overgrown

You have a soft and bristly side

But like an old friend in the kitchen you reside

You clean our dishes

And anything else for our clean house wishes

While we put in the elbow grease

Without you our cleanliness would cease

You sit waiting like an old friend

Until we are ready to use you again

Once you have cleaned enough

And lost your fluff

Into greener pastures you will go

What’s next for you? It’s unknown
