Ode to the Birds in my Yard

Oh to the birds in my yard!

How I love you so!

When I rise you are the first thing I seek to see!

I look out my window to see just who has come to visit me today.

Will it be the red birds, the female with her dull brown but still beautiful red colors or the male with his bright red colors that are so brilliant you can't help but stare?

Or perhaps my little brown finches that come and go as quickly as the wind.

Oh to the birds in my yard I love you so!

Maybe today, I think, my pigeons will come and peck off the ground just below the feeders. They come in a group of 2 or more when they come.

Oh and my hummers!

So tiny and sweet are you!

You dart around so fast not a person would be able to see if they didn't look up; if they didn't but listen.

Flying so fast I hear your wings as you hum past my ears at speeds faster than the eye can scarcely take in.

At times, you rest for just a moment and then its off again to whatever important business it is you have to attend to.

Oh to the birds in my yard I wish you knew just how much you make my day.

How I dream of being not just the crazy cat lady when I get old but also the crazy bird lady...

Might seem a bit odd to dream of such a thing but I care not because...

Oh to the birds in my yard you bring me more joy than you could or will ever know!
