Oh, restless midnight companion,
Unwelcome visitor in the night,
Your watchful presence, ever-constant,
Denies me sweet slumber's delight.
As the world slumbers, hushed and still,
You linger, relentless, by my side.
Your siren call, a constant thrill,
Demanding attention, far and wide.
The ticking clock, a steady drum,
Echoes the rhythm of my racing mind.
Thoughts, a cacophony, ever-numb,
Refusing to leave this space unkind.
I toss and turn, seeking respite,
Yet your tendrils hold me in their grasp.
Eluding sleep's embrace, yet so contrite,
Longing for rest, beyond your clasp.
Oh, Insomnia, cruel companion,
Why do you torment me so?
Is there no balm, no sweet respite,
To ease this endless, wakeful woe?
In the stillness of the night,
I plead for your merciful retreat.
Grant me the solace of sleep's sweet light,
That I may find true rest, complete.
For in your hold, I lose myself,
Adrift in a sea of wakefulness.
Bereft of dreams, on sleep's lonely shelf,
I yearn for your absence, to find true bliss.
So, Insomnia, I bid you depart,
Let me reclaim the peace that I crave.
For only then can I heal my heart,
And in slumber's embrace, truly be saved.
