Anti-social,
but craving attention,
craving affection.
Humans are meant to be social creatures.
Even those who want to hide
don't want to spend all their time in groups,
with parties,
going wild.
Anti-social doesn't mean
they don't need companionship,
camaraderie.
It just means it's harder.
It's awkward.
They don't know how to find the words to say,
to express themselves,
especially when faced with too many faces,
too many places to be.
Not necessarily anti-social.
Not really shy.
More of an introvert
locked up inside.
Need their time to recharge
without the bombarding
of other people's thoughts and words.
They'd rather observe,
keep quiet
until there's something real to say.
Not ready to play
the games of society.
It's not that they want to be alone.
They just want to find home
in the right people.
Discover others
who don't need the limelight,
who struggle and fight
with their inner demons,
and hold those demons' hands
as they walk across the land,
embracing their uniqueness.
These are the divine.
These are the kind of people
that embrace the odd,
the obscure,
the wild side.
The ones who are careful
of who they let in,
who they allow to begin
to see deep inside
what's hiding behind the mind's eye.
Through kindred spirits
beauty bursts,
and all the strange and odd
finally finds growth,
bringing connection.
