Step off the edge of late September
where the pavement turns to rust
You trace a map of cider stains
through swirls of copper dust
You've crossed into October Town
where dusk forgets to end
Here, every narrow, cobbled street
begins to wind and bend
Listen to the weather now
Hear the chimney whistle blow
the misty fog encircles
all the pumpkins down below
dried up leaves on crooked roofs
their windows amber bright
and every porch lamp plays a song
to entertain the night
Follow the scent of burning wood
let it live inside your brain
skip through alleys where damp oak leaves
come trickling down like rain
Take the path behind the barn
that wasn't there before
Knock three times upon the wood
of October's crooked door
Here, the misfits laugh and dance
around bonfires, four feet tall
and ghostly music drifts across
the haunted garden wall
Wander as far as you dare
the stars shine bright and clear
No matter how lost you become
You're always welcome here
Let your hair blow in the wind
enjoy the masquerade
October welcomes you with grace
and memories that never fade
