October - The great departure
An Acrostic poem about autumn's changing landscape and the ancient instinct of migration

Ochre leaves drift down through the thinning light,
Cool winds scatter summer's colours from my sight.
Through fading skies, the birds trace their way,
Over forests turning gold, they leave the day.
Bare branches tremble as the north winds blow,
East and south, the restless wings must go.
Resting earth awaits beneath the falling snow.
