October challenge: Prompt - Write a poem that makes October feel like a place you can enter.
Imagine October isn't a month. It's somewhere you can go.
What does it look like when you get there? Maybe the streets are covered in wet leaves and porch lights glow before dinner. Maybe there's a bonfire somewhere in the distance, a house you shouldn't knock on, or a path through the woods that wasn't there in September. Your October might be cozy, eerie, nostalgic, lonely, strange, or something else entirely.
Write a poem that turns October into a place and invites the reader inside. Give it weather. Give it sounds. Give it somewhere to wander. Then see where October takes you.

Hello October
We are on our way this September
Looking forward to fun in the fall
I know it will be a ball
Does it really take us 21 days
to get to October? Well, no
it is just down the road a ways
The time will just go!
Are we there yet, comes from the back seat
I'm sure that they can't wait to meet
all the great people in October and the treat
So many things to do and foods to eat.
October is a fun place to meet family
and friends and everything is equally
special and neat! The weather is great
hearing the sounds of the season.
The birds have started to flock
time moves forward just like the clock
The leaves are so beautiful and the cider
and hot chocolate are next to the divider
The divider opens to a haunted house,
a maze and food trucks, and a mouse,
a brother to Mickey. I so look forward to
this visit. Then there is the witches brew.
An apple cinnamon tea that we love to drink
while picking those apples off the tree. I think
it is a great time for all in October every fall
And even now when the kids are big and tall
Join us on this adventure of a lifetime
it is time to shine, and we are not in our prime
There is fun for all, no matter who you are
There is pool, darts, and a ring toss in the bar
A contest for just about everything, which includes
prizes, cash and other kinds to give you cheery moods
Expense is minimal, my other favorite thing
Last time, I won me a diamond ring!
