I waited for you in the hall,
You said you wouldn’t be late,
So I kept listening for your call.
But hours passed with nothing at all—
I whispered, “Maybe I misread fate,”
Still hoping you’d walk through after all.
I traced your picture on my wall,
The smile I used to celebrate,
And wondered why you don’t recall.
The promises we made last fall—
The ones you swore were something great—
Now echo like a fading squall.
I search for signs in every mall,
In every face that looks your shape,
And feel myself begin to crawl…
Back to the place—the same old hall,
Where I stood trying to navigate,
The moment your silence built a wall,
And longing sharpened into fate,
And I lost myself in loving you through all.
