i like sitting out here at night
the air is still
every leaf motionless as if the
trees are sleeping
the cicada chorus floats
a lullaby frequency
over the night air
the white clouds are like a
patchwork quilt across the
indigo sky
there's just something about
being out here in the
dark stillness that writes in
my own stillness
i find myself lingering
resetting
resting
realizing
that i'm exhausted
but thankful for
the air He puts in my lungs
hot days
cool nights
and the ability to linger
if i want to.
