Numbness
...feel nothing at all?
What's it like to feel nothing at all?
To have an emptiness inside that's tall
No joy, no sadness, no anger, no love
Just a void that fits like a glove
It's like a ship lost at sea
No direction, no compass, no glee
A life without colors, without sound
A soul that's always underground
You try to reach out, but feel no connection
The world is just a vague reflection
People's emotions are a mystery to you
And you feel like nobody has a clue
What's it like to feel nothing at all?
It's like being trapped behind a wall
Just watching life as it goes by
And never really knowing why
But even in the darkness of this plight
There's still a glimmer of hope, a fight
For even in the emptiness, there's a chance
To find a spark, to break the trance
So don't give up, don't lose your way
There's still a light, a brand-new day
For even in the darkest night
The dawn will come, and bring back the light.
