Looking back on my childhood

I see the numbers that

Made me

1,361 miles ridden on my bike

312 wasp nests knocked down

4,036 firecrackers lit

60,190 dribbles on a hard-packed dirt basketball court

2,500 comic books read

252 rocks skipped

965 trees climbed

280 fish snagged

37 turtles captured, named, and released

3 tree forts built

196 lightning bugs caught

832 Sundays sitting on a back pew

(just) 1 time chasing my sister with a snake

916 blueberries snuck from Grandma’s garden

652 ears of corn shucked

571 hours swinging on a porch swing

9,999 bales of hay hauled

4 fist fights with my cousin

2 time owner of the world’s best dog

Innumerable

bruises,

cuts,

and scrapes

One amazing adventure
