Number Two

Can I..

"No, let's do this for HER instead."

Wouldn't it be nice to..

"Oh, what would HE want?"

"What would they prefer?"

"We have to make sure he is comfortable."

"Let's cook what she likes."

"You have to do this for everybody!"

The words that this girl has to hear...

This girl who...

Drives herself around,

Even with the option to NOT be the driver.

Serves others food first,

Even though she's the hungriest.

Orders her own birthday cake.

Fixes her own problems.

Puts everyone else.

Because she is...

In everyone else's life.

A number even further down the line.

Prioritise me no more.

For I now don't even care.

I crave to be ZERO.

So that I can be like you...

So I don't have to care...

I can stay

Because having been number two

All my life

In everyone's lives

Is not something I want

Or accept

Congrats on top story! I too prioritise other people first, as does my partner, we're slowly learning to adapt ourselves together and learn how and when to prioritise ourselves!

It's hard to learn to value yourself when others put you second.

  • I mean, technically, number 2 is poop, so that explains why it feels like shit, lol. Jokes aside, it's exhausting to always put others first when we're not and would never be their priority. Sometimes it's good to be self centered. We gotta look out for ourselves. Because if we don't, then who will. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❀️

So raw and touched with bitterness! This was a compelling read! Never being intentionally prioritized by anyone hurts

I have mostly felt like number 4, being middle of 8 kids. So 2 would be a step up the ladder for me. But it is a pile of crap to always being kind and thoughtful when others never appreciate your sacrifices. The trick is to find the place in yourself where you become number 1. Focus on yourself and what it is that you desire of yourself. Even if it means risking being seen as selfish. You can only give of yourself when you arrive at that place within yourself where you accept yourself fully. Those who really care will understand.

This is very sad. Well written, but sad.

Oh, this is heartbreaking about all that time wasted in service of narcissists. Every human should have great value in their own eyes.
