Numb

Looks can be deceiving

When you look from the outside

Seeing is believing

When your face no longer hides

Deeply creviced corridors

Just ridges of gray matter

Tried and true bold troubadours

Served up on silver platters

Nameless talking heads

With faceless, plastic smiles

Expressions drawn with lead

And fashions out of style

Who makes the call to name-call

Whose decisions are of made gold

When did we drop the ball

When did my face get old

A stomach full of regret

A mind empty of guilt

One reason I should forget

Castles of sand that needs rebuilt

Demands that can’t be fulfilled

War rooms of shattered glass

Crying over milk spilled

While breaking the power of the past

surreal poetry
