You gave me nothing but bruises,

Some that could be seen,

And some that couldn't.

Those bruises that couldn't be seen

were more painful than the ones that

could.

I spent most of my life,

Hiding those bruises,

Hiding the tears that flooded my eyes,

While you never accepted accountability for what

you did.

"But she did this,"

"But she did that,"

"I'm depressed."

Tell me;

Do you truly think that any of these excuses validate

the pain that you left me in?

Do they truly account for the way in which you exposed

our children?

Now tell me;

How Am I supposed to be there for you after the pain you caused

me?

You don't deserve my help,

Depression does not excuse abuse.
